Advent: A Voice Crying Out

ADVENT – the Time Between

A voice crying out…

John-
A powerful voice,
God’s selected choice,
Entrusted to introduce
The Lamb of God.

John-
Intense we would say,
The life he displayed,
Abstaining from all we hold dear,
Obedient acts with an open ear-
Introduced the great I Am.

John-
Prepared the way
For the great I Am,
By all acclaimed;
Yet John would fall,
Under wicked sword be slain.

As I follow the great I Am,
A disturbing question remains:
Will I like John be willing to die
As Jesus only I proclaim?

REFLECTION:

Read: Isaiah 40:1-11; John 1:6-12, 23.

John replied, “I am a voice crying out in the wilderness,: ‘Make the Lord’s path straight,’ just as the prophet Isaiah said.”

Matthew 11:11- Jesus said, “I assure you that no one who has ever been born is greater than John the Baptist…”
