Lent: The Gardener

A fallen tower,
Sacrifice defiled,
Some lived, some died;
All need God’s mercy,
As Jesus testified.
Barren fig tree,
Ordered to be downed,
So glad the Gardener
Makes His faithful rounds.

A Gardener of mercy,
To encourage this weakest tree,
Through nurture, pruning—
Still puts trust in me.

To bring a transformation,
Of hope and love again,
To persevere in wind, hail, drought,
Fresh fruits of joy begin…

I am a sinner;
Have mercy on me,
Loving Gardener of my soul.
