Lent Season: Intentional Peace Embracement

“Be strong and of good courage… He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength…My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

“Arise and begin working, and the LORD be with you.”

(taken from Joshua 1:8; Isaiah 40:29-31; Psalm 73:26;
1 Chronicles 22:16).

I refuse the word “rush” on this good, God-day. Instead I choose the words “intentional, steady, forward movement.” Suddenly, “Alleluia” (choral work by Randall Thompson) washes over me from radio waves – I am strengthened and given courage for this new day of prayer, packing, decision making, and goodbyes.

Jesus, too, while on the most difficult road to death, gave continual words of courage to those He was leaving behind…”I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.” John 14:18-21 NRSV
