Lent Season: Forevermore

He gazed upon the Father,
The Father and He, One;
Father, Holy Spirit, Son;
The greatest test of greatest love,

How can three in One
be ripped apart?
Set aside eternity,
Wrap in weak humanity?
Become all putrid sin,
Instead of Holy Son,
Lose the gaze that matters most,
So you and I be won?

O, Lover of my life,
I, so slow to grasp the grief You bore,
Stamp this deeply in my soul:
One with You I am — forevermore.

Forgive me, oh loving Lord;
forgive me.
